The autumn transforms the picturesque Gooiland in the Netherlands into a veritable sea of colour. With its lush forests, idyllic lakes and historic villages, this region offers a wealth of opportunities to enjoy the beauty and cosiness of autumn to the full. In this blog post, we invite you to join us in exploring the best autumn activities in Gooiland, from walks through autumn-coloured forests to relaxing hours in the sauna. Get ready to experience the magical autumn atmosphere of this region!

A tour of the estates

Autumn is the most beautiful time of year to explore the Gooiland estates. A total of 10 17th and 18th century estates adjoin each other here and can be combined on a walking tour. Colourful forests, park-like grounds, stately manor houses and abundant wildlife make a trip here a real treat. Start your walk at the visitor centre bezoekercentrum Gooi & Vechtstreek and then warm up with a cup of hot chocolate in the Brambergen restaurant. Tip for families: the 'Paddenstoelsafari' (mushroom safari) and the play forest next to Restaurant Brambergen.

Time for museums

Singers, also known as the Singer Museum, is a renowned art museum in the picturesque town of Laren. The museum houses works by the Barbizon School, American painters and impressionist Dutch artists. A different kind of museum, which is at its best in autumn, is the National Tree Museum Bomenmuseum Gimborn in Doorn.

Play indoors

When the weather isn't so good, families won't be bored at Gooiland. There are plenty of opportunities to let off steam indoors. How about a visit to what is probably the most beautiful trampoline park in a church? This is possible at Flight Deck 53 in the Clemenskerk in Hilversum. Indoor play paradises like Spelekids in Hilversum and Monkeytown in Bussum will make children's eyes light up. For all water rats, the De Zandzee swimming pool is a great place for rainy days. For the little ones there is a Miffy bath. Recommended restaurants with children's play areas are Bruis in Blaricum, Leuk in Bussum and Het Pannenkoekenhuys.

Around Lage Vuursche

The area around Lage Vuursche is one of the destinations in Gooiland that knows how to satisfy all wishes and needs.

The forest area around the village is a popular hiking area and mountain bikers also get their money's worth here. Our tip: start the 11.5 km long mountain bike course at Theehuis 't Hooge Erf, where you will also find the mountain bike rental. After your mountain bike tour, you can stop off at the cosy Theehuis (reservation recommended).

Great destinations for the whole family are the Midgetgolftuinen Lage Vuursche mini golf course, where you can experience mini golf on a new level. Three 18-hole courses with imaginative obstacles in a park-like setting make the minigolf adventure extremely entertaining. For those who prefer to climb high, the Klimbos Gooi-Emland high ropes course offers pure thrills on 7 routes. Afterwards, we recommend Buiten in de Kuil or the pancake restaurant De Vuursche Boer in the village of Lage Vuursche.

Pure relaxation

The cooler months, when nature slowly goes into hibernation, are the perfect time to shift down a gear. The Suitelodges Gooilanden are perfect for this. Surrounded by greenery, yet close to the city, well equipped and, if desired, with private wellness facilities such as a sauna or whirlpool. Relaxing evenings in the sauna or roasting marshmallows by the fire bowl - this is relaxation for mind and soul.

Just a 20-minute drive from the Suitelodges, SpaSereen is located on the edge of the Maarsseveense Plassen lakes. The perfect place for an unforgettable spa day with a lake view.
