When you think of autumn, you quickly think of looking for chestnuts in the forest on a hike, enjoying a crackling fire, having a nice long dinner together and playing games til late: activities where being together whilst having fun are key.

 

Autumn is a wonderful time to get away from it all with your loved ones. The colours in the Dunes of Schoorl are at their best at that time of the year: the leaves on the trees turn red and brown and the light in the dunes is just beautiful.

 

You can hire bikes at our central reception located in the village. If you book them before arrival, they will be ready and waiting for you at your villa. Cycling is the ideal way to discover the autumn colours in the dunes around Schoorl!

 

Cycling route: Beach & Bergen (village)

 

From the village, cycle towards Italian restaurant La Grotta, just after the restaurant turn left into the dunes. After about a kilometre you will arrive at Bospaviljoen de Berenkuil. Of course, you are just on your way, but a cup of coffee and a nice piece of cake always go down well.... Follow the path to the right of the pavilion until you reach the next larger junction: turn left here.

At the next junction, keep right to head towards Bergen aan Zee. As you cycle into the village, you can't miss the beach. Our favourite beach pavilion is Noord: this is a great place to sit outside when the sun is shining, even in autumn. Noord is a nice place to have lunch and or hang around a little longer for a drink.

 

With a filled stomach, cycle along the Zeeweg towards Bergen. After about two kilometres, turn left at the roundabout to cycle onto Eeuwigelaan: the well-known and very fashionable avenue with huge and beautiful villas. At the end of the avenue, you cycle straight into the centre of the cosy village of Bergen.

 

Bergen has a lively centre with nice boutiques and many cafes and restaurants. Around the old church, in the middle of the village, you can find several nice bars. Fabels is one of our favourites: here you can enjoy drinks, lunch and also dinner. Do you like a good steak? Then you are more than welcome at Loetje in Bergen.

 

From Bergen, it is about 20 minutes cycling back to Schoorl: time for another drink!
